She’s the soy sauce to his sushi. He’s the syrup to her waffles…
And those two lines were part of their vows. Vows that were spoken, quietly and sweetly, at their table, just before an amazing dinner. In a wedding that broke from tradition and got to the root of all that is this thing we call marriage. Together, they are infinitely better than when they are apart. And now, they are together, forever. Chelsea and Davie said their I Do’s…. well, actually, they didn’t say “I Do” per se… I digress. Let’s back up a minute.
There was no official “ceremony”. There was no walking down the aisle. There was no multi-tiered cake. What there was, was food and friends, and comics and cranes, and pies and punch, and karaoke and sparklers, and everything that makes Chelsea and Davie unique. There were two immensely talented and creative people, and everything that makes them happy, wrapped up in to one day. And it was incredible.
From the curtains of comic-book-page origami cranes that Chelsea made by hand, to the photo-booth where friends could pose and print photos and make scrapbook pages pages for the guestbook, to the cast iron bathtub full of cans of ice cold Hawaiian punch, to the comic book centerpieces, to the amazing Hawaiian fusion meal (I SO need that garlic sesame dressing recipe!), to the (TO DIE FOR – um, Cherry Almond… heck yeah!) pies and pastries… Every single detail of this wedding was creative, non-traditional and original. Just like Chelsea and Davie.
That’s what made their wedding so special. Not the fact that it was out-of-the-ordinary, but that it was so truly and uniquely “them”. It was the perfect reflection and epitome of two people for whom I have so much respect and admiration. Chelsea and Davie, thank you for allowing me the honor and privilege of photographing your extraordinary day. It was just. so. incredibly. cool! Thank you for trusting me with your memories. I loved every minute I was fortunate enough to spend with you all. Your wedding was one I will never forget, because the two of you are simply unforgettable. Here are a few highlights from your amazing celebration. I hope you love them as much as I do! And I hope one day I’ll get the privilege of sharing another amazing meal with you guys, and possibly trying some of Chelsea’s famous pie! Many Congratulations and so much love to you my friends…. 💕
