I’m fairly certain that sarcasm is the 6th love language. If I give you a hard time, you know I like you. And this theory definitely holds true for Ashleigh & Zach. It’s Zach’s favorite thing about Ashleigh. And the thing that drives him crazy. AND the thing that makes him smile the most. The best part? I think that him smiling is what makes her smile the most. It’s a perfect little synergy they have, this back and forth teasing of each other. And to be honest, it was the thing that made me smile the most during their engagement session.
They met online, and clicked instantly. His best friend crashed their first date, a dinner that Zach cooked for Ashleigh. She didn’t mind though, because it gave her the opportunity to “get the dirt” on him from someone who knew Zach best. Either the dinner won her over, or the dirt wasn’t too dirty, because they went out again the next night, and have been together ever since. These two have fun when they’re together, regardless of what they’re doing, and it usually involves a frosty beer, good food, watching Patriots football and, according to Ashleigh, “annoying the shit out of each other”. LOL. It’s all better when they are side by side… driving each other crazy.
But here’s the thing that they won’t tell you. The thing that I got to see through my camera lens. When it’s just them, in a quiet moment, when no one else is watching… it’s obvious that along with the teasing, the fun, the joy… there is a comfort they bring to each other. An unspoken understanding. And that, my friends, is what makes for a great relationship.
We spent some time together on a gorgeous spring day for their engagement session at the Mogollon Rim. The road was closed, and we had to hike in a bit, but it was SO worth it. On top of the incredible views, there was still some snow patches on the ground, we found a gorgeous flooded tree lined area that made for some killer reflections, and the temperature was perfect, just like these two. Ashleigh and Zach told me they “hated” being in front of a camera, but from the results, I sure couldn’t tell!!
Congratulations Ashleigh + Zach! I can’t wait for your wedding at The Windmill Winery this fall! 💕
